{"id":3078,"date":"2020-08-28T14:22:59","date_gmt":"2020-08-28T13:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/?p=3078"},"modified":"2024-12-19T13:25:23","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T13:25:23","slug":"veterinary-mri-shipping-magnets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/us\/2020\/08\/28\/veterinary-mri-shipping-magnets\/","title":{"rendered":"Veterinary MRI: The Overwhelming Case for Shipping Magnets by Sea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As with so many companies around the&nbsp;globe,&nbsp;Hallmarq Veterinary MRI&nbsp;is adapting&nbsp;to new ways of working in a world&nbsp;where&nbsp;COVID-19&nbsp;has forced restrictions upon us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite five months of lockdown, remote working, a ban on all but essential travel and the challenges of maintaining our collaborative sanity, Hallmarq has continued to show&nbsp;resilience as&nbsp;a company and here\u2019s how\u2026&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/app\/uploads\/2024\/12\/magnet-in-the-air-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Veterinary MRI: The Overwhelming Case for Shipping Magnets by Sea | Hallmarq Advanced Veterinary Imaging\n\nWe speak vet at hallmarq.net\" class=\"wp-image-3657\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Benefits of Shipping Veterinary MRI Magnets by Sea&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Historically, the magnets&nbsp;used in our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/us\/products-services\/small-animal-mri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Small Animal MRI&nbsp;systems<\/a>&nbsp;were&nbsp;transported by air&nbsp;from China&nbsp;to either the UK or&nbsp;the&nbsp;USA.&nbsp;Magnets lose helium when&nbsp;not&nbsp;connected to power,&nbsp;so speed is of the essence&nbsp;when it comes to&nbsp;freighting&nbsp;them&nbsp;quickly.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, flights&nbsp;have always come at a&nbsp;cost to both the environment and the bottom line.&nbsp;Once plentiful,&nbsp;flights&nbsp;are now increasingly rare.&nbsp;A combination of&nbsp;these factors&nbsp;pressed our&nbsp;operations&nbsp;team&nbsp;to&nbsp;review alternatives.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resourceful,&nbsp;as always, the team&nbsp;worked directly&nbsp;with&nbsp;our&nbsp;MRI magnet&nbsp;manufacturer&nbsp;to&nbsp;begin&nbsp;shipping&nbsp;by sea. A powered shipping container ensures&nbsp;that the magnets&nbsp;remain&nbsp;cold,&nbsp;therefore,&nbsp;full of helium&nbsp;during&nbsp;transit.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Major Reduction in Helium Loss&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While&nbsp;we may have lost the speed&nbsp;that air travel affords,&nbsp;shipping by sea&nbsp;far&nbsp;outweighs&nbsp;shipping by air thanks to&nbsp;the considerable&nbsp;savings&nbsp;on helium.&nbsp;<strong>On average, an air-freighted&nbsp;veterinary&nbsp;MRI&nbsp;magnet&nbsp;can suffer a helium loss of up to 50%&nbsp;while&nbsp;in transit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only&nbsp;is this&nbsp;expensive&nbsp;to replace&nbsp;but,&nbsp;helium is one of the&nbsp;earth\u2019s finite and particularly precious resources.
