Combination scanning using standing equine MRI and Vision CT was used to help reach a diagnosis and proved the usefulness of multi-modality imaging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">MRI Findings <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The horse underwent a <a href=\"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/us\/products-solutions\/standing-equine-mri\/\">Stan<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/us\/products-solutions\/standing-equine-mri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ding Equine MRI<\/a> to assess damage to the vital structures (such as the navicular bursa and deep digital flexor tendon). However, suspectable metal fragments from the rusty nail resulted in a large susceptibility artifact, obscuring the region of interest (Figure 1).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hallmarq.net\/app\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Florain-CT-Fig-1-1-1024x828.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12875\"\/><figcaption>Figure 1: Sagittal MR image of the foot showing the susceptibility artefact<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\">CT Findings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Utilizing Hallmarq&#8217;s 3D Vision CT imaging, the penetrating tract was successfully visualized (Figure 2) and revealed multiple metal fragments within the frog (Figure 3). It provided the physiological data needed. However, in this instance, the presence of metal fragments limited the diagnostic efficacy of MRI.
