AAEVT-certified equine anesthetist, veterinary technician director, South Valley Equine, Saratoga Springs,
Amanda’s career in veterinary medicine began at the age of 15 when she volunteered as a yard assistant. During this time, she embraced every opportunity to assist and learn, which led her to meet influential figures in the field, including Dr. Roger Rees, Dr. Charlie Heaton, and John Sieverts who offered her a position assisting other technicians. With her passion for veterinary care ignited, Amanda pursued an education in animal sciences and biology. In 1998, she attended Colorado State University for hands-on training in equine and large animal anesthesia.
Since then, she has been fortunate to shadow and be mentored by remarkable anesthesiologists and technicians, building a wealth of knowledge and experience. Having devoted over half her life to veterinary medicine, Amanda is deeply passionate about her work and committed to making a difference—dedicating countless hours to help save the world “one horse at a time.”
Blessed to forge many lifelong friendships with both clients and coworkers throughout her career, these relationships have enriched her professional journey and provided a strong support network that enhances a shared passion for veterinary care. Working closely with clients builds trust and understanding while collaborating with colleagues fosters a spirit of teamwork and mutual learning. These connections not only make the daily challenges of veterinary medicine more rewarding but also create a sense of community that Amanda cherishes deeply.
